Dr. Rattan received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical
Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1972 and 1975,
respectively, and his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Punjab
Engineering College, India in 1969. His present research interests are
fuzzy logic control theory and applications and robotics. He joined WSU
in 1979 as an assistant professor and now holds the rank of full
professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. During 1988, he was a
visiting professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute.
Dr. Rattan is the author of over 150 technical articles and reports, and
his external funding exceeds $500,000 and includes grants from the
National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific
Research, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, General Motors, Intel
Corporation, and other industries. He is the past president of IEEE
Dayton Control Systems Society and is a senior member of IEEE.
