The Wright State College of Engineering and Computer Science maintains its
programs with the generous help of its many donors, who give money, time,
expertise, and equipment.
The College's donors include alumni, friends, corporations, foundations, and
other organizations, and their gifts range from modest one-time cash donations
to the creation of endowments.
An endowment is a gift that is held in perpetuity and provides dependable
support for a specific University need. The University invests the initial gift
and spends only a portion of the average annual investment return. The remainder
is added to the principal as protection against inflation. Endowments can be set
up to support a wide range of purposes depending on the individual donor's
particular area of interest-from scholarships to fellowships, from degree
programs to research laboratories, and more.
Endowments blend a donor's vision with the College's needs and objectives and
contribute substantially to the quality of engineering education. The dependable
revenue stream provided by endowment income helps reduce reliance on external
funding sources, keeps tuition as low as possible, and will be essential to our
ability to produce innovative global leaders for generations to come.
