CECS External Advisory Board

Purpose

The College of Engineering and Computer Science External Advisory Board will serve as a sounding board and advisor to the dean. It will be a vehicle to make the technical community aware of our programs and plans for the future, and will provide industrial, community, and political input and support for the degree programs and initiatives of the College. The board will provide the input from industry and the community about how the college can improve. The board members will also serve as a link between the College and their company or organization to help stimulate interactions and collaboration. The board will meet with the dean at least annually to be updated on the activities of the college and to provide counsel to the dean.

Composition

The External Advisory Board of the college will consist of approximately 25 senior level professionals in positions of responsibility in business, industry and government. They will be appointed to staggered three-year terms with about one third being replaced each year.

Selection

The members of the External Advisory Board will be appointed by the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. External Advisory Board members will generally be appointed for a three-year term and may be reappointed to serve an additional three-year term.
