| CONGRATULATIONS TO THE RECIPIENTS OF THE OUTSTANDING BIE STUDENT AWARD FOR 2009 |
ISE:
Harold Gotwald is the outstanding ISE Senior for 2009. Harold is a senior cadet in the Air Force ROTC. He was recently in charge of all cadets for the entire detachment of over 135 cadets as Cadet Vice Wing Commander and has served as retention officer as well as Standardization officer and Public Affairs officer. Upon Graduation he anticipates being awarded a commission into the US Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. He has been selected to be a Project Engineer for the Air Force and plans to gain experience in the fields of engineering, acquisitions, and squadron leadership. He received the Air Force ROTC Achievement Award in 2008 and 2009, and the Belmont United Methodist Church Scholarship in several quarters. Harold participated in the WSU Dean’s Leadership Institute this past year. For his capstone design project at WSU using ISE techniques, Harold's team worked with Kroger to improve the placement of items in their distribution center network. For the last year he was a member of the Wright State Blues Swing Dance Club. He is engaged to be married to Kristie Leigh Frasier. |

BME:
Griffin Romigh is the outstanding undergraduate Biomedical Engineering student for the class of 2009, although several of our senior students have had outstanding accomplishments both at Wright State University and in the larger community. Griffin has the highest GPA of the graduating seniors in BME at 3.95 and is also a University Honors scholar, with departmental honors project entitled: A Basis for Hearing Protection that Preserves Auditory Spatial Awareness. He has worked as an engineering research assistant in the Acoustics branch of the Human Effectiveness Directorate of AFRL and has performed original research in human auditory perception that has resulted in two journal articles and five articles in conference proceedings. He has also been a teaching assistant for the EGR 101 Introductory Mathematics for Engineering Applications supervised by Dr. Nathan Klingbeil. Griffin will be joining Carnegie Mellon University to pursue his Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a full fellowship. He plans to do research with the Quality of Life Technology Center which helps develop and test assistive technologies with aid of several unique facilities.
