The ABET-accredited Industrial Engineering program at Wright State is unique. Its roots are user-centered design, where products and processes are designed for people. In fact, the department's mission is Engineering for People. Towards that end, students receive both the breadth of knowledge necessary to be successful in today's marketplace and also the opportunity to specialize in a focus area of their choice by pursuing one of four tracks.
Information Technology
The track in information technology for industrial engineering is designed for students interested in the use of information technology for achieving business and society goals. Students who complete this track are eligible to receive a minor in Computer Science for Engineers and Scientists from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, along with their major in Industrial and Systems Engineering without additional course work beyond that of their major.
Operations Management
Students interested in pursuing a career in technical management will complete the operations management track for which they receive a minor in Operations Management from the College of Business and Administration within the framework of their industrial engineering major.
Human Factors Engineering
For students who want to focus on the integration of people in product design, the track in Human Factors Engineering is particularly well suited. This track includes course work in psychology and biomedical Engineering.
Honors
The honors track is for those interested in research or considering graduate school. Here, students join a faculty member for two quarters in their research laboratory, culminating in submission of honors thesis.
